Chattanoogan.com was launched Sept. 1, 1999, as one of the first full-service web-only daily newspapers in the country. Since that date, it has proven to be a pace-setter in the rapidly-developing field of Internet news publishing and has drawn a wide following and readership.
Publisher is John Wilson, who was a staff writer for 28 years for the Chattanooga News-Free Press.
Those involved early included Chris Cairns, Michaela Miller, Xavier Cabezas, Shane Ashley, Jim Ashley, Irby Park and Tad Evearitt.
Other key members of Chattanoogan.com include sports writers John Hunt, Randy Smith, Dan Fleser, James Beach, Jacob Robinson, Jack Gold, Eli Rushing, Greg Davick, Danny Webb, and Richard Roberts, and writers Judy Frank and Gail Perry. Editors include Marcy Bryant, Jenny Gienapp and Jana Hinton. Dennis Norwood and M.A. Locke are valued photographers, and Mr. Norwood is also a Sports editor. Many beautiful photos are contributed by Lawson Whitaker and Mark Herndon. Mr. Herndon and Carmen and Patrick O'Hagan are regular contributors from the music scene.
Our regular contributors include a number of talented writers: Roy Exum, John Shearer, Ferris Robinson, Harmon Jolley, Bob Tamasy, Jerry Summers and others. Technical support is by Ed Sunder.
Doug and Dael Hoyt have handled our financial matters from the start, and this online newspaper would not be possible without them.
The Chattanooga firm threeHD (later NDP) has developed our unique redesign that we believe will serve as a blueprint for many similar full-service web-only daily newspapers around the United States and the world. Contact us concerning how we can help you set up a similar Internet newspaper in your city using our model.
Chattanoogan.com does not have deadlines, but it is updated on a constant basis. When there is breaking news in Chattanooga, this is a source that provides the information – often within minutes and often with color photographs from digital cameras.
